The Nicest Gifts Are Handmade! Thanks Mom!

In my world, Christmas isn't quite what it used to be.  It has become so commercial that I rebel at times.  I still make my own cards (see previous post) and many of my gifts (lots of homemade vanilla!).  Then along come this wonderful gift, handmade by my mom!    She took a small aluminum garbage can and tole painted it.  She uses hers for birdseed -- I might do the same!  Check out the picture of the painted scoop!  Yes, she painted that too!  Thanks Mom for making Christmas what it should be -- handmade!

Christmas 2010

It's hard to believe that another Christmas has come and gone!  I was thrilled to finally get into the spirit of creating digital cards!  Maybe I spent less time creating them digitally than I normally do with cutting and piecing by hand -- maybe not!  I just know that I had a great time making the Christmas card with lots of "stamped" layers.  Loved using blue as the base.  Also, the thank you card was something I decided to do at the last minute to thank family and friends.  Hopefully everyone appreciated them!

Fun with new stamps - Birthday Card!

Okay, so if you saw my last post you know my sister's birthday is coming up soon.  So, I had to make a card!  It started with a collection of stamps that I bought from "Stamps of Life" (THANKS Stephanie!).  They are so much fun!!!  So the card started with this photo of horse tack (my sis loves "country" anything):
Thanks for taking this photo Teresa!

I used PINK woodgrain paper on the inside and stamped a "Stamps of Life" calendar to decorate the inside (along with some other fun items!):
I even added a fun quote from The Beatles (Dang, I spelled it wrong!  Too late now!)

And I had to decorate the envelope (one of my faves!)! I used a "Stamps of Life" birthday circle stamp and added some bling and adhesive ribbon!  Yippy!  Time to deliver it!

Halloween Cupcake Toppers!

My sister's birthday is at the end of October so.... in addition to her b'day gift, I'm giving her something fun for Halloween!  I made some Halloween toothpicks for her to insert in her cupcakes!  So fun to make!  One dozen.  Plus, I'm sending her some "batty" cupcake wrappers from a local craft store.  She will have a great time putting everything together.  I'll have to ask her send a few pictures of the completed project!

New Card, Newly Inspired!

Although I've made some cards for my Etsy shop recently, I haven't posted them in my blog!  I needed some inspiration to make something new so I surfed random, crafty blogs and I was off and running!  Thank goodness!  Things were feeling a bit stale.

So this card is the result of my efforts over the weekend.  What do you think?  It was fun to make as I layered a lot of elements.  I even dug up some supplies I haven't used in years!

Birthday Shoebox

My niece's birthday is tomorrow so I decided to do something different for a gift box.  This idea started out as something completely different (a gift bag) and ended up as this:

This is a recycled shoe box!  I decorated it with a coordinating paper, added "Happy Birthday" (thanks Cricut!), brads, and some ribbon.  I laced it up like a corset and there you have it!  Hopefully my niece will appreciate it!  I know she will appreciate what's inside!  Happy Birthday Bre!

I own a CRICUT!!!!

So I just celebrated my 30th birthday... again.  My husband TOTALLY surprised me with a CRICUT!!!  Can't believe it!!!  I feel so lucky to have a husband that really thinks about what I would like for a gift.  He's the best!

I'm looking forward to posting more cards in my Etsy store now that I've got a Cricut.  I haven't been doing anything with my store (no don't look... it's still Christmas-y).  Now I'm motivated to create, create, create!  I even made a couple of thank you cards on my Cricut and sent them off to my family.  Watch for my latest creations!  Yippy!
